it's been 11 days since my last most. and alot has happened. well not exactly. but i'm a very happy bunny (i still get goosebumps even thinking abt that phrase...) haha.
let's see. my old handphone died (and the revived partially) but not after I got a new nokia N73. Got a PSP too! and have been busy looking for cheap games to buy on ebay. haha. i'm making an effort to meet up with the people close to me as often as possible. so overall. i'm back to my normal happy self.
i think i'm a pretty easily satisfied guy. i don't need a big job, a big house, a big car etc. i think i just need company and companionship. but i think i'm still not too keen on the whole responsibility issue with marriage though. haha. scary huh. when the day comes and i find someone who thinks as weirdly and exactly as i do, then that would be a day to remember.
but since i highly doubt that day will come, i'll try to fill up that unfillable void with big jobs, big houses and big cars should i not be able to find the company. haha. i miss my friends alot. yeah i'm so overly dependent on them. it sux to be so out of touch with them and be so out of sync with the people currently around you. haha but that just makes you treasure the special people in your life more. haha.
ok. off to meet liang for dinner and then to ucc with ting to catch qiang's last performance. haha. 3 from my group of special friends. haha

wow. again more than a week since i last updated. haha. really need to starting making an effort to write.
thesis is going on fine. tkm sez that we should be able to finish it up soon. and then the base for my thesis is done. the optional part is on some conjecture. he wants me to do an intensive 3 week research project on that conjecture. meaning everyday i'll hafta go to his office around 9 plus in the morning and work on that conjecture. and hopefully we can get something out of that. if not then i'll just submit the base of my project which should be enough to get my masters degree. haha phew.
just had a long tutorial session today. on laplace transforms. something i know nothing about. haha. but it wasnt too difficult to explain. just that i always feel like i cannot add value to the class because of my lack of knowledge. sigh. oh well. i cant possibly know everything rite?
i think in the past i mentioned something about race and nationality. the more i think about it, the more i feel that the sterotypes people make about one's race serve almost no positive purpose.
so what if i am a chinese. for sure i am, but that carries little weight on how i think or how i behave. for sure, the enviroment we grow up in will influence our thoughts and our beliefs. but to hear people tell me that i should do certain things because i am chinese is ridiculous. to make such comments about a person with respect to his/her country makes more sense (even though in the larger picture it still is rather misguided).
in the theory of animal behaviour, in particular herd behaviour, or even pertaining to insects, in the field of swarm behaviour, we must consider all entities as a single object that moves, breathes and functions as one. however, when we consider human populations, we rarely make generalised assumptions that we all act and think like one. our individual characteristcs are to distinct for us to be able to achieve such a unification of mind. so why then do we subject ourselves to the notion that just because we belong to a collective union that we must necessarily behave like so?
mostly, i think we tend to adopt a very digitalised view of everything. you're either part of the solution or part of the problem. so in our minds we either belong to one group or we dont. and if we do, then we are expected to behave in that swarm like way.
i really do not like other people telling me that chinese people should do this or not do that. because to me, i'm a human first, then singaporean and then chinese. my actions are first determined by my own traits, then the fact that i call some place my home, followed by the totally irrelevant and useless fact that i am chinese.
anyway, would mr sociologist care to comment?
oh ya. got my timing for the vertical marathon haha 14.15.01. a pretty average time i guess. more or less the same as herk and roon. haha oh well. aiming for 10 next year.

wow. has it really been a week since my last post? haha.
what have i done this week? climbed 60 storeys during the vertical marathon (amazingly did not get aches after the race), started writting out the formal proof of lemma 3.1 (should send it to tkm on monday), invigilated 1506 midterms (quite boring actually), etc.
sometimes when i see the navy ad, you know, the one about "nick's life" and if your life will be as exciting? haha. yeah i wonder if mine is worthwhile too. haha.
ok short post today.
