had an exceptional day yesterady. 2 treats to excellent food.
i didn't really sleep the night because i was thinking of stuff. so i though i would be too tired to enjoy the day. but i was so wrong!!
got ready to meet the dai di brothers at 10 and left about 1130. that still didnt prevent me from being late though. haha. joined terence jiaen and caleb at out of the pan at raffles city and as usual had peking duck. after they insisted on treating me for lunch, we adjourned to gloria jean's later for coffee and more chatting, where i now insisted on buying them a cuppa. haha i think sometimes in life, u get to know a group of friends who dun judge u and who dun expect anything from u. and everytime u meet up with them, u enjoy each others company. i think the dai di brothers are a group of such frends for me. haha a pity we didnt have cards to play dai di. haha! terence is due for marriage next year and jiaen pretty soon after i reckon. haha so right now, we're helping caleb look for someone. haha. anyone interested in a intelligent witty graduate from Ecole Centrale de Paris? haha an avid sports man (read pole vaulter and fencer), and braniac (read quantum physicist). haha!
anyway terence passed me a hardcover version of gordon james' representations and characters of groups!!! with martin liebeck's autograph!!!!! he tried to get gordon james' but he wasnt too contactable! hahaha. was soooo surprised when i recieved it! haha.
terence's present!
we started lunch at 1230h and only finished talking at about 4 when jiaen had to go meet his girlfriend. haha. and it was non stop chatter amongst us 4! haha. i really love such outings. caught a train home after that. by the time i reached home, i was dead tired. fell asleep snoring (probably) till about 6. took a shower and got ready to meet wu liang yong quan and wanmei (aka the tutors) haha!
arrived at au petit salut (a nice cosy french restaurant near holland village) about 7-ish. nice ambience, low light, nice background music but yet a friendly enough atmosphere that aloows one to relax and have a hearty chat. haha. i always have a ball of a time with the tutors. haha wanmei's nonstop chatter and wealth of stories. yongquan's silent smile and his ability to put up with consistant (friendly) riddicule (read suanning). and wu liang's perpectual distracted look, hearty laughter, and sometimes naughty comments.
the service was excellent. waiters/waitresses always on hand to help in any way they can. we eventually decided on a sharing dinner, with, for starters, escargot (how could one go without those snails), foie gras (duck/goose liver). had a quail meat dish and another prime beef dish as our mains (those were absolutely yummy), and had a taste of 4 different kinds of dessert including crème brûlée and strawberry sorbet. all in all, a VERY satisfying meal. i would definately go back again if i had the $$$ haha.
i was feeling so happy today, i decided to buy them drinks at wala wala. however, we felt the place to be a little hot and studdy, and so proceeded on to harry's for drinks. ordered 4 different cocktails and rotated them about trying all 4. apparently 2 tasted fruit juicy and 2 more alcohol-y haha. in the end, we played the number guessing game to finish up the drinks because they were all afraid of getting tipsy (hey what? we dont drink that often you know!) haha!
in the end, wanmei was the ultimate winner only hitting the number 2, while wu liang was the ultimate loser (4 penalties), haha i think on 2 or 3 occasions due to my picking the right number and leaving him with no choice but to choose the preset one. haha.
all in all! it was a wonderful day! haha i felt as if it was really my birthday. haha! well
