haha back from my trip liao... merry xmas to whoever is still reading this... haha... will try to upload some pics soon... haha in fact i'll prob do some today... haha... anyway tkm just got his tenure and will be apply for sabatical soon so if he gets it then for the first semester of the next academic year i'll be left with no supervisor... hence he wants me to start on my msc project next semester... i've gotten the readings from him liao... and i cannot get past the first page.. haha... dieeeee... anyway this sem was good... haha i mean really good.. hahaha my first cap 5 sem... ok la... a bit cheapskate since i took only 4 modules... but still... it shows that i made a bad decision trying to cram 7 modules in 1 semester... haha i sacrificed quality for quantity... tsk tsk... but well its a lesson well learnt...

had a good xmas party on friday night... haha ate our own self made sushi and it tasted great... haha or at least i tot it was great... haha... had our gift exchange also... haha except since the gathering was small we gave everyone else a present... haha not bad... i tot quite alot of the pressents were well thought of... haha... always fun to have small gatherings in my opinion... hahaits more personal... and u dun have pple feeling left out or pple forming cliques... haha we played this new card game i learn from a group of taiwanese friends i made while staying in the wild in the northernmost part of sweden... i tot it was a hit with everyone there... haha good break from teh usual mahjong bridge and dai di games that we usually play... haha... i dun haf the pics... but once i get them i will put them up... haha

anyway i'm starting to get a bit irritated with the blog layout also... haha a bit mafan... yes MAFAN not MARFAN... haha not bad... while hanging out with medicine students (who will be doctors in 4 months *gasp*) u really learn alot of their jargon... hahaha wonder y no one learns math jargon... hahaha... so i think i'm going to change it... haha maybe going out later so i shall change this first... haha

okie... here's wishing one and all a merry xmas!!

haha yesterday roon sed that francis thinks we're very anti... haha by anti i shall assume anti social... r we really?

actually i think this brings up and important issue... there is a difference between being something and not being something else... in this case... this is a distinction between being antisocial.. and not being sociable... i choose to believe that it really is not just a play with words... and does really account for more than what most of us would like to believe...
i guess the subtle difference would in my opinion be the fact that one is sort of an active action while another sort of a passive one... for instance... disliking someone and not liking someone... to dislike someone could be as a result of having a negative impression of that person.. wheras not liking that person would be more of a lack of reason to have a favourable impression of that person... i'm sure u get the drift... and the same really spplies to a whole host of many other things...

in phillosphical logic... one very common (and clear) example of this fallacy is one's belief in the existance of god... someone who believes in the existance of god or gods is called a theist whereas someone who believes there is no god or gods is called an atheists... haha commonly misused by singapores everywhere (it really is amusing to listen to pple speak and then realise they actually mean something else... haha it's kinda like a puzzle game...) anyway... some singapores do not believe in the existance of god or gods... and do not believe that god or gods do not exist as well... the term commonly used for these people is an agnostic... someone who neither believes nor disbelieves in the existance of god or gods... so really here we see that there really is a big difference between being an atheist and an agnostic.... any theist would is trying to convince someone in the existance of god or gods would have a much easier time persuading the agnostic for his has not as strongly negtating an opinion as that of the atheist...
now back to the point of being sociable... i think i'm probably not anti social... but rather just not sociable... i prefer small tightly knitt groups to large massive impersonal hordes... i like to sit at the table and be involved in only one discussion permeating throughout the table... and not be part of one of many distinct topics discussed in tandem... i'd rather know the birthdays and likes and dislikes of 10 people than just knowing the names and faces of 1000 people... so yes i am not exactly a social butterfly... in fact i believe that indulging in such behaviour is in some sense in excess and unhealthy... but on the same note... i also realise the importance of not being anti social... understanding that social interactions is a must and that some good does come out of them... so really... in my own personal and humble words... haha i am not antisocial... just not sociable... haha... although i admit... some dictionaries do define antisocial-ness with being not sociable...whatever...

anyway it's 4 more days and i'll be off to zurich... really excited abt the trip... for those of u who have the time... keep an eye on murphy for me... haha i dun wanna see him anytime during my trip... haha in fact i'd rather not see in at all in my entire life... but i'd rather see him in singapore than in a foreign land... haha i've done enuff planning to ward him off i hope... haha so see anyone who wants a nice structured trip should ask me along... haha i think my travelling style sort of suits gerri's... haha nice plans and even contingency plans... haha... oh well... looking forward to taking loads of photos and videos... haha... ok... time to prepare to play badminton... haha cya!
