exams in 2 weeks time. starting with lebesgue and field and followed shortly after by graph and discrete. ok this sem i'm going to perofrm a terence-logic triple. which means i'm gonna get A even though my grades are about average in class only. specifically for lebesgue field and graph. dont know why i seem to have more confidence for discrete.
anyway i went to look for tkm today. chatted with him a little. he sed lst was very impressed with my presentation but both of them felt i could have handled the interview better. well what can i say? i dont even know if that is a good sign. for those who dont already know, the interview makes up to 30% of my grade while the talk 10%. i feel that my thesis which makes up 50% is quite ok because he only made a few superficial changes to certain proofs. tkm also sed "well it's over. so dont worry about it anymore. concentrate on your exams. you'll know hat you will get when the results come out." i mean "DUH!" =) well if that line came from anybody else i would probably have guessed that i got a B+ because i believe that i am rather good at reading people. but tkm is really one of the few i really cannot read. i think i'm able to handle certain interviews or academic oral examinations well becasue i can tell by the examiners expression if i am going the right way. i did that for lst during the interview. but when tkm starts talking, he face doesnt twitch a bit. sort of like a professional poker player. i cant tell anything by looking at him or by listing to his tone. and he always lets you finish, waits a few seconds, before he says what he has to say. so in this case, i really cannot tell what he means when he said that.
after talking about my report, we started talking about non-acad related stuff like the politics in the dept and stuff like that. really quite hilarious. oh and for trhose who intend to take metric spaces or topology next semester, there is a chance that he may be taking them. he was saying he hasnt touched metric spaces since he was an undergraduate which i believe was more than 10 years ago. =P
anyway elizabeth's talk is in 1.5 hours time. was always very impressed with her topic and presentation. "fixed point free automorphisms" wow sounds very errm, for lack of a better word, "CHEEM" for the uninitiated right? (oh and by the way, it seems some people who read my blog have stated to use that exact phrase too right heh heh =P). anyway, gotta go get ready for school and to do some fraleigh later on. tkm offered to help me with field (so nice right?) so i have to read up everything up to and including galois theory first. till the next time i blog, to those studying for exams or having practicum, work hard for the remaining weeks, to those enjoying life overseas, go out and have more fun instead of just playing cards (haha), to those preparing for the O levels, all the best and you can look for me if you need help in math. remember the poster below: justine henin hardenne says impossible is nothing!!! hahaha feeling lame but anyway ciao!
