wow it's been a really long time since i've last been here... been a bit too busy with stayovers and celebrations... haha hmmm anyway results are out and though there's nothing much to celebrate about, i think it's quite good considering the nature of this semester... and yes... it's the end of the cursed 2 years of my life cycle again... haha so it's 2 years of good luck for me as i embark on the final semester of my undergraduate studies and my postgrad masters... haha...

haha waaah new year is arriving... haha and i have lots of goals/resolutions for 2005... haha deciding if i shld write them down here...
1. SAP 5.0 with emphasis on A for HP
2. 8:30 for 2.4, 40:00 for 10, 1:45:00 for 21, complete 42
3. talk less do more
4. get my teeth whitened and my skin darkened
5. stop cursing pple (i'm trying... seriously...) haha

hmmm waah i can't think of more non-self-improvement resolutions... ok ok we'll keep it there and once i have achieved them i shall replace them with newer ones... haha i pray and pray that if i do end up doing my masters in NUS that i will be doing the following modules... group theory, mathematical logic 1, mathematical logic 2, axiomatic set theory, graph theory 2, lie groups, algebraic geometry... haha...

hmmm okie.. shld be going off to mel mel's house soon.. haha

haha... i never though i'd say this, but DPPS is really quite fun... haha it's interesting to know the issues behind policy making... haha and of course it is indeed easy to complain how certain policies dun seem to work... BUT... take on the role of a policy maker and u realise that certain things have to be sacrificed in order to achieve optimal results...

today's session wuz really quite interesting... with 9 different groups analysing different aspects of a policy we managed to come up with lots of flaws in the systems... however, while trying to improve on these flaws, we realised, thru the apt intervension of other groups, that the changes we tried to impose had their own flaws too, and in most cases, more severe ones... haha... hmmm really makes me consider if most of the complains singaporeans make are really quite unfounded... haha but then again, the exercise clearly shows that these improvements do come starting from negative remarks... haha

ok so we've covered security and social/healthcare issues liao... economic policies next... looking forward to the next 2 days... haha ciao

haha... hmmm just came out of my sister's room.. haha picked up a scrap piece of paper on the floor... turned out to be one for her sec 3 essays... haha and i must say... i'm still very impressed with her language... haha a pity she doesnt really care much for literary arts... seriously.. i think she'll make a great writer... haha her essay title wuz something like peak hour or something liddat... and the account of a middle-class white collar briton would probably be better than say 90 percent of any adult's... seriously... it wuz well planned, well articulated and described almost every infinitesimal detail to perfection... although i must say she's really damn messy... i bet her english teacher would have bled seas of blood while marking her script... hahaha... peifu peifu... haha... i still remember... when i wuz in sec 4 and when she wuz sec 1... and i had to ask her the meaning of words in the essays she wrote... haha must be the this shelf stocked full of thick books of these reader's digest novel/story collection... haha unlike her i never developed the habit of reading... haha my mom must be so proud of her... haha cos she has someone who will take after her and write articles to the ST forum and get it published... haha and for the record my mom has 2... sis has 1 and me? well i sent in one article... haha got rejected... haha oh oh i wanted to send in one on HPF too... the poor woman... but i didnt think i wun be in any position to say much considering she never taught me... haha

oh ya oh ya... did ya noe RJ is shifting the end of this month... haha apparently there is this ceremnony to mark the shift... haha think the alumni can go also leh... how how? u guys wanna go? i think june sent me an email linking to the rj website... it mentioned something abt smrt chartering a train specially for the staff and students of rj that will go straight from BV mrt to bishan!! HOW COOL IS THAT?? hahaha... hmm i'll find the link later and post!! haha i wanna go back to RJ to teach... haha

oh last night instead of watching singapore idol like most normal singaporeans... haha i decided to give it a skip after listening to sly's HORRENDOUS performance... though it has to be sed that taufik's me and mrs jones wuz really stunning... the judges chose the best song possible for him and he benefitted from it... haha anyway i wuz watching channel u... ren ren ai li... i dun normally watch that show cos i think it's an inferior version of the oprah show... haha and it's in chinese too... ahah but i wuz waiting for bi xie jian so no choice.. haha anyway it wuz show on doctors and how pple have to wait very long for treatment in hospitals... haha... and who are the pple complaining? yes ur favourite aunties and uncles who do not shy AT ALL in front of the camera whilst seemingly trying to convince viewers of how much injustice has befallen upon them... seriously... one auntie wuz complaining that the doctors just keep asking and asking question and not doing and physical tests that hse felt it wuz more like an interview... i laffed when she sed that... cos it really shows how most singaporeans (and this is not an overgeneralisation) behave... they dun noe much and they dun bother to do research or to find out more abt such things before they start complaining... correct me if i am wrong... but doctors in asking questions with increasing detail are usually able to diagnose without the need of much if any physical examinations at all... so i mean there u have the very first characteristic of singaporeans... DUN KNOW MUCH BUT LIKE TO TALK ALOT...

then the next uncle wuz complaing abt how he went for dunno wat CAT scan or MRI or X-ray scans etc... basically he sed he spent more than a 1000 bucks (and he added further that, in singlish, "cannot claim medisave lah... must pay cash...")... and when he asked the doctor wat wuz wrong the doctor sed "we dunno"... and he wuz complaining that that $1000 wuz thrown down the drain... blah blah blah... well i dun have to elborate how stupidly farnie this complaint is right? haha i mean i may not know the facts of the case and perhaps the doctor's attitude may have put this guy off... but seriously... if there wuz a way to diagnose a patient so simply, then doctors would not need to go theru 5 years of hardship in med school right? Well... i think for the sake of these doctors, they shld (and i really believe most of them do) tell their paitents that the tests they perform may or may not identify the problem, and they it would be their choice to decide whether togo for it or not... so there u have it... the second characteristic... UNREASONABLE...

taxi drivers... ahhh... well i dun HATE taxi drivers witha vengence... in fact some of them are quit nice... however, i really dun like those who try to be a taxidriver-cum-political-analyist... haha... frankly, the government is doing a good job... but singaporeans have an INSATIABLE demands... haha here's my experience..

1/ taxi driver complains about how much ministers earn and how much he earns.. (well how much responsibilites do minsters under take and how much does he?)
2/ woman complains about husband's affair and how justice system failed to give her a substantial portion of is assets when she divorced him (well i can't and will not comment on this because i dun want to be a typical singapore... if i dunno i admit i dunno... and yes i dunno much abt law...)
3/ taxi driver complains that GST rise will not solve problems and that minister's salaries shld be cut more to compensate... (err... same case as 1 PLUS a case of not reading up on minister's reasons for the rise in GST...)
4/ taxi driver complains that government is cheating all OUR money and how corrupt they are... (HAHA this one i find REALLY VERY FUNNIE... haha.. com'on spell it with me... conspiracy theory!! hahahahahah)
5/while selling flags, numerous uncles have told be to stop selling cos i'm being manipulated by the "EVIL" government to swindle their money... haha another truely HILARIOUS event.. haha i dunno how many times i met pple like this.. haha they all claim that charity shld come from teh ministers cos they earn so much... haha (which i partially agree too) and then they say that they goveenment wants to squeeze they dry of wat their worth then throw them into so old folks home... haha (ok la... i pity these folk to some extent... poor and old... nothing much in life left to look forward to... so i cant really blame them for their resentment... haha)

i cant recall any other instances... haha but yeah these have certainly brought some smiles to my face as i typed them... ahha so farnie!! haha... so wat am i trying to say? well i feel we shld always try to understand the situation better before we OPEN OUR BIG FAT TRAP of ours... singaporeans need to learn that... me included... which reminds me of the horrible singaporeans i met while travelling overseas... haha but i wun type it here.. my fingers are tired... haha shall go eat an apple now... haha... ok nuff sed for the day... haha ciao!!

oh oh just add a photo since i typed so much and there is word vomit all over my blog.. haha this is yang wei and zhang jiewen during singapore open finals... haha
